Welcome to the webpages of the Center of Early Music Bratislava (CEMBA)

The Center of Early Music Bratislava (CEMBA), aims at propagating and supporting early music, by means of an international network of academic institutions, music academies and music performers. Concurrently, the CEMBA is organising and co-ordinating festivals, seminars, workshops and masterclasses to get not only the public, but as well as musicians – either professionals or students – more and more acquainted with authentic performance techniques and practices of music from the Renaissance period, Baroque and Classicism.

Due to a unique tradition of “domestic music making”, in 1996 the Center for Early Music was established and its main festival organised by the CEMBA, whose artistic father was Prof. Jan Albrecht, was the “Days of Early Music Festival” (Dni starej hudby). Throughout the years, various internationally renowned performers have worked together, giving the festivals an artistic level of quality and elan, which is unique for Slovakia.
